After reading Rebecca's coverage of the Fashion Night Out party at Fashion Place Mall in Salt Lake City last week, I realized that I definitely missed out - the Cold From Hell was in full force that night, so I spent the evening swaddled in blankets and catching up on The Bachelor Pad.

Fortunately for me, Fashion Night Out held a second party and runway show last night at the Gallivan Center in downtown SLC, and I was lucky enough to score some tickets from Lily Bride Designs (a sponsor of the event and designer of some unbelievably gorgeous wedding dresses). Apryl and I donned our LBDs and accessories of choice (knee high boots and a newsboy cap for her; purple tights and a 20s-esque clutch for me) and hit the show, phones and cameras in hand.

We weren't the only stylish attendees - amongst the stereotypically schleppy Utahans were scattered more than a few fashionistas, ranging from fishnet-and-short clad Don'ts to beautifully chic Dos. The Bettie Page entourage was particularly distinguishable by their retro dos, bright red lips and curve accentuating 50s style dresses, while bloggers were given away by their pops of color and the cell phones growing out of their hands (myself included).

Despite some technical glitches that caused the show to run quite late, the palpable nervousness of some of the models and the almost complete absence of the MCs, overall the show itself was kind of amazing and the party a blast. There are certainly a number of areas that should be noted for improvement for next year, but the sheer talent of the designers, the interesting vendors, an awesome DJ, a killer live performance by Cameron Rafati, the badass setup at the Gallivan Center, the cheeky spunk of a handful of models (from Niya Model Management, I think) and the obvious passion of everyone involved made the IN This Week Magazine-sponsored event well worth attending.

September certainly seems to be Utah's own Fashion Month - between Art Meets Fashion last weekend and two FNO shows, I think the tone of Utah's style has been set for the upcoming season. Oh... and the fauxhawk. A work dare that surprisingly worked out seamlessly with the black lace dress. It was #MohawkFriday, bitches.
