I love reading the posts on Glamour.com - they're full of fantastic advice regarding fashion, beauty, health, fitness, and loads of other topics that are very relevant and important for women today. Sometimes it's hard for me to relate, given that the bloggers live in New York and I'm in a tiny town in Utah, and sometimes it makes me want to move to a big city and try my hand at urban life. Other times, it makes me grateful to live and work in such a low-pressure environment. I suppose it depends on the day, and how adventurous I'm feeling at any given moment.
The one continuous issue I have, though, is what they seem to consider "budget friendly" clothing. Call me stingy (or maybe it's a Utah thing), but $200 is pretty far outside my budget for any single item of clothing (an incredible wool coat would qualify as an exception). Honestly, my salary is closer to minimum wage than I would like it to be, and I still have bills to pay. Living with my parents and driving one of their vehicles cuts down on expenses immensely, but I've been through hell the last few years, and I definitely took my finances along for the ride. I'm trying to get back on my feet in more ways than one, but I don't want to cut shopping out altogether.
People often seem to be amazed at my ability to find awesome clothes and accessories at even awesomer prices. Sometimes it does take a bit of hunting, but it gets easier if you know where to look and how to shop. It doesn't hurt to make friends with the sales associates, either! At some point when I'm less sleep deprived, I may write a post or two about my shopping practices, and possibly re-write a Glamour.com post using some of my own suggestions.
For now, though, I'm going to bed. I kept getting distracted, and this tiny post that I started about 2:30am has taken me till 6am. So yeah... bed time.
